Stride Rite
An American institution for more than a century, Stride Rite was the first baby shoe brand to receive the American Podiatric Medical Association’s Seal of Acceptance. Founded in 1892 by entrepreneurs Jacob A. Slosberg and Philip Green, this Massachusetts-based footwear label for kids was originally known as the Green Shoe Manufacturing Company; it purchased the name Stride Rite in 1933. Stride Rite’s patent leather booties and Floral Mary Jane sneakers for infant and toddler girls, chic boat shoes for boys, and sandals and sneakers feature leather insoles, and contrast stitching details. These and other distinctive features have helped the company to develop a reputation for peerless quality and style.
