Elie Tahari came to New York from Israel with "nothing but a free plane ticket," and at the age of 25 opened up a boutique on New York’s now-illustrious Madison Avenue. Now, over 30 years later, he's one of the most well-known and respected names in the fashion industry, with a global presence (more than 600 stores in the U.S. alone) and several freestanding boutiques. While Tahari crafts his collections in his New York design studios, his inspirations are global. (So is his team, which consists of an ever-expanding group of patternmakers and artisans in Europe and the Far East.) Tahari’s flair for unique and graceful style is the trademark that's landed his designs in Harper’s Bazaar, InStyle, and Elle.
