Translating classic design into beautifully modern home accessories and furnishings is Thomas Paul’s stock-in-trade. In the late 1990s, the New York City native and FIT grad worked at a silk mill — helping to create neckties for DKNY and other prestigious labels before launching his own collection of bold-patterned ties. In the early 2000s Paul added stunning printed decorative pillows to his repertoire, then followed up with bags, rugs, bedding, melamine platters and plate sets, fine art, and many other home décor essentials. Today the Thomas Paul aesthetic includes stylized flora, fauna, Chinoiserie, damask and toile prints as well as Gothic and Grecian silhouettes. A synthesis of baroque elements, post-modern minimalism, and detailed illustration reminiscent of 19th century maps and anatomy charts, Paul’s designs add a whimsical touch to any room.
