Tommy John is the first menswear brand to focus specifically on that all-important — and oft-neglected — piece of clothing, the undershirt. Touting its primary product as “the ultimate undershirt,” the label was born in 2009 when founder Tom Patterson decided he could no longer deal with cheap, poorly fitting men’s t-shirts. His response: a line of sleek and slim premium undershirts done up in stretchy cotton Lycra and micro modal fabrics, cut long to stay tucked in your waistline. The longer-than-standard silhouettes of Tommy John’s v-neck and crew neck tees, tanks, and long-sleeved undershirts hug the hips to prevent bunching and render the shirts nearly invisible under button-downs. The label rounds things out with a selection of similarly trim underwear, including boxer-briefs and briefs. Tommy John is underwear, upgraded.
