Vanishing Elephant brings a bit of Savile Row refinement to the Land Down Under — designing men’s and women’s clothing that, in the label’s own words, is “made to love and last.” Up-and-coming designers Felix Chan, Huw Bennett, and Arran Russell launched Vanishing Elephant in 2008 to provide a counterpoint to the Aussie fashion scene’s relentless trend-chasing tendency. Vanishing Elephant collection includes solid-color tees, woven socks, and other wardrobe staples as well as tightly tailored classics inspired by Sydney’s underground culture of the 20th century — think striped button-down shirts in loose cotton poplin, leather bomber jackets in olive green, slim wool trousers, and shoes and desert boots in richly colored suede.
