About Velvet and Tweed

Since 2008, Velvet & Tweed has been the go-to source for parents in need of special-occasion children’s clothes that are formal but not fussy (i.e., kids don’t want to pull them off). The brainchild of San Francisco designer Tina Schreiber, a children's fashion vet who previously helped launch the upscale boutique Janie and Jack, the collection takes its inspiration from European designs, offering such classics as Liberty print dresses and ruffled wool coats for girls, and herringbone button-downs and pinstriped blazers for boys. Even onesies take an elegant turn in Schreiber’s hands, made in seersucker and linen, with delicate buttons and gathered sleeves.
