Vitrocolor
As if by magic, Vitrocolor’s artisans turn old bottles into vases that have the mottled finish of an antique mercury-glass mirror. Founded in 1991 near Valencia, Spain, this housewares company gives discarded glass new life—from utilitarian pitchers, plates, and tumblers to decorated vases, objets and ashtrays. The range of styles and finishes is impressive: There’s everything from bulbous, color-striated shapes that recall Venetian forms to squared-off frosted vessels that combine texture with vibrant hues.
