Indirect Tax Manager

Reporting to the EMEA Finance Manager, your essential Functions and Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following, as related to the Importation/Distribution/Export of goods & services to and from the European Union.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all VAT-related queries and filings across the International business, including contract review to ensure correct set-up for VAT reclaim
  • Design and implementation of Customs-efficient processes for importing/distributing goods and services
  • Develops European relationship with Third Party Logistics Firm
  • Advise ERP rollout team on VAT-related concerns
  • Monitor business to ensure no PE risk
  • Preparation of VAT returns for all of the groups European entities
  • Liaison with fiscal representatives and/or local tax authorities around Europe
  • Managing VAT audits as they arise and achieving positive outcomes
  • Reconciliation of VAT Accounts to General Ledger
  • Preparation and filing of Intrastat & VIES Returns (where applicable or liaison with outsourcers)
  • Ensuring internal processes are VAT compliant
  • Driving improvements in the efficiency of internal VAT-related processes
  • Ensuring that there is a high level of understanding about VAT issues within the organisation
  • Providing VAT guidance / support on strategic initiatives at European and group level
  • Providing VAT-related advice to the Irish-based finance and operations teams
  • Working with Business Development, to advise on the VAT implications of new business activities, such as new vendor programs, or setting up of new entities in Europe
  • Managing relationships with, and the provision of services by, professional service firms where appropriate
  • Current ad hoc special projects

 

Qualifications:

  • Recognised Accounting Qualification (ACCA, ACA, CIMA)
  • Strong computer and analytical skills, including high proficiency in Excel (experience with Oracle ERP or similar package is very desirable)
  • 4+ years experience preferably with a Multinational Company or a Big 4 accounting firm background.
  • Be a self-starter and able to act on own initiative
  • Excellent problem solving skills and ability to be detail oriented
  • Capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously, working under pressure and to meet strict reporting deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (oral, written, presentational)
  • Demonstrates team work and collaborative approach to work
  • Experience of dealing with complex accounting, VAT/tax and legal technical issues, including, preferably, significant experience of strategically managing
  • Indirect tax issues
  • Experience of dealing and negotiating with tax authorities on corporate tax or Indirect Tax issues
