Job Description:
We are currently seeking a Senior Merchandise Planner to help grow and support Gilt Groupe’s Home Division. The successful candidate will work closely with the GM, Buyers, and Operations team to analyze business trends in order to effectively communicate merchandise and financial strategies.
Responsibilities (include, but not limited to):
• Forecast Sales, Gross Margin, and Inventory vs. Plan by Department and by Brand/Sale
• Manage Open-to-Buy by division by department to align inventory with sales expectations
• Develop Pre-Season annual, quarterly, and monthly Sales, Margin and Inventory Plans by division and by department
• Work closely with GM and Director of Buying to establish a concise and executable merchandise plan mix pre-season and in-season
• Work in conjunction with Operations and Logistics teams to forecast units inbound and outbound for various product types
• Make recommendations and execute markdowns with merchandise team
• Perform Ad Hoc analysis based on historical performance and product attributes
• Support the development, implementation, and execution of new business processes and technology
• Manage the hiring, training, and development of future direct reports
Requirements:
• 5+ years in a merchandise planning/financial role;
• 2+ yrs. management experience required
• Self-starter, strategic thinker, ambitious in nature, personable
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Intermediate experience with Microsoft Excel
• Strong planning and organizational skills with a sense of priority for deadlines and attention to detail
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and recognize and react appropriately to changing work demands
• Proven ability to manage projects independently and to work as part of a team
• Excellent interpersonal skills supporting a team environment
• Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
• Excellent time management/project skills
• Comfortable and confident in making effective autonomous (and group) decisions in a timely manner
• Goal-orientated with strong ability to stay focused
• Strong understanding of merchandising financials and ability to manage profitability
