Senior PHP Engineer

Gilt Groupe provides access, by invitation only, to Men's, Women's, Children's, Beauty, and Home coveted fashion and luxury brands at prices up to 70% off retail. Each sale lasts 36 hours and features hand selected styles from a single designer. The business model, based on urgency and scarcity, offers extraordinary goods at incredible prices, but only for a limited time. All of these sales occur daily at noon, driven by daily email reminders and alerts to a private membership. Most of the hot items are sold within the first 10 minutes, with the bulk of sales occurring within the first 90 minutes.

Jetsetter, a member of Gilt Groupe, provides invitation-only access to high-end travel experiences at deeply discounted prices.  Like Gilt, our sales are open to members for just 36 hours and include some of the best names in luxury and boutique travel. Our management team includes seasoned entrepreneurs who have built world-class business at companies such as DoubleClick, Kayak, Travelocity, Starwood, Site59, Viacom, Right Media and Yahoo. Jetsetter enjoys the backing of Gilt Groupe, which pioneered this successful format in luxury fashion. In less than 18 months, Gilt has acquired over 1.5M members and is growing rapidly.

Requirements:


•    Must have 5+ years of object-oriented coding experience using either PHP.

•    3+ years working with relational database systems; MYSQL preffered.

•    Comfortable working with linux operating systems.

•    Familiar with various front-end technologies such as javascript, css and xhtml.

•    Experience environments where engineers play a direct role in conceptualizing product requirements.

•    Experience developing content management systems, back-end tools, and reporting.

•    Must be able to work collaboratively with developers as well as editorial/creative staff.

•    Demonstrable understanding and analysis of how users interact with consumer-facing products.

Responsibilities:


•    Conceptualize, design and implement core features of Jetsetter.com.

•    Ensure that the site continues to run smoothly and remains bug-free.

•    Be on the cutting edge of new technologies and the ways they will help Jetsetter grow.

•    Interface with other teams within Jetsetter and Gilt on a daily basis, including creative and engineering teams.

•    Assist in development of tools to aid in business analysis

•    Develop Jetsetter’s administrative controls and content management system.

This position reports to our VP of Engineering in our New York offices.
