Job Description:

Gilt Groupe is seeking an experienced Women’s Buyer who is a whiz with numbers and analysis and has their finger on the pulse of the latest trends in women’s contemporary fashion. 

Drive successful women’s contemporary business through strategic partnerships and strong analytical skills. Represent and share the details and successes of our fantastic company with potential partners.  Negotiate, and build compelling product assortments at discounted prices.  Drive sales through the selection of product, pricing, promotion for greatest return on investment.

Responsibilities:

• Buying responsibility and financial accountability for respective buying category
• Conduct buying trips on a monthly basis
• Negotiate buying terms with vendors (price, quantity, delivery terms, and markdown $)
• Manage inventory levels with input from Financial Planning team
• Present new category recommendations regularly to Vice President and General Manager:
•    Financials
•    Reasoning/Trends
•    Future Plans
• Develope financial plan for the vendor(s) (profitability targets, markup and receipt flow)
• Keep abreast of industry trends and new product ideas
• Build strong relationships with vendors
• Recruit, motivate, and develope other members of the merchandising team

Requirements:

• 5+ years’ buying experience
• Strong understanding of merchandising financials and the ability to mange profitability
• Knowledge of Open-to-Buy process
• Experience in women’s contemporary buying
• Ability to analyze reports and draw conclusions/recommendations
• Ability to remain flexible and willing to change strategies, as business needs dictate
• Ability to lead teams effectively and create an exciting workplace
• Discount retail experience strongly preferred
