Down South

South Willard’s eponymous in-house line is often overshadowed by the bigger names it carefully stocks in its Los Angeles store. Aside from offering a range of Band of Outsiders and Stephan Schneider, and being one of two spots in the States to carry Margaret Howell, owner (and designer) Ryan Conder has quietly put together a solid line of knits and outerwear. This Donegal check wool Italian vest is a prime example of the detailed construction and fine fabrics Conder has been committed to employing. Made in conjunction with the legendary, Seattle-based Crescent Down Works and woven from American-made Pendleton wool, this vest errs on a side of formality (thanks to the aforementioned Donegal check). A down vest is a great cold weather accoutrement; this is a great cold weather suit accoutrement.
