Earlier today, I paid a visit to Gilt MANual contributor Gay Talese’s Upper East Side townhouse for a civilized chat about the various features he’s working on for our site. We met in Talese’s basement “bunker,” which has long served as part writerly hideaway, and part hall of records for the astonishing collection of photos, clippings, and assorted notes that the legendary journalist has accumulated in researching his many influential books and magazine articles (including, yes, “Frank Sinatra Has a Cold”). I’ll be sharing a few those photos next week. Until then, here’s a pic of the exceedingly handsome suede cuffs that Talese–in signature style–had added to his tweed jacket. Matter of fact, there’ll soon be more on that topic, too.
