Seems like it was just yesterday that A Continuous Lean got us crazed about a set of red brick-soled bucks from Mark McNairy’s New Amsterdam line. T’was no passing crush. As the latest blanket of East Coast snow turns to brown city slush and ice, footwear is foremost on our minds. Enter Leffot, Steven Taffel’s exquisitely curated shoe shop tucked discreetly away on Christopher Street in the West Village. The store’s in-house design team has cooked up two urbane takes on the red sole. Featuring suede uppers—available in a derby or chukka (styled with a little colored-lace panache, no less)—these private labels dress up a silhouette (and sole color) that tends to side with utilitarianism, and makes traction on a slippery sidewalk just a bit more formal.
