I say this with conviction: Massimo Piombo is doing the most interesting men’s tailored clothing out there. His shop in Milan is worth the trip here alone, and his booth at Pitti Uomo is well worth the entrance fee. His jackets are perfectly unstructured; his fabric choices, color selections, and patterns are fearless (see image on the right: acid green cord suiting); and his fits are in that sweet spot between slim and disheveled. It’s the epitome of effortless; charming, even. It’s also unbelievably frustrating because you can barely find it Stateside. Meaning you might not ever see the best idea for outerwear seen thus far here in Florence: overcoats with full raglan sleeves.
