One thing that every man should own is a sturdy field jacket. This is not negotiable. It’s a classic for many reasons, but the two major ones are: 1) it looks good on anyone, and, 2) it can hold a lot of stuff. Like most great things in menswear, the field coat started its life in the service. The two styles most of ours are based on are the US Army-issued M-51, dating back to WWII, and the more recent (and more popular) M-65. The Burkman Bros have created a version of the M-65 here (you can tell because of the zip-in hood/collar, a defining M-65 characteristic) which gains points for style and loses none for function. The slimmer and shorter fit is balanced by the washed canvas material, making this the perfect springtime jacket, rain or shine.
