I’m a big fan of yellow pants—not bright yellow, mind you, but something a bit more muted is definitely a solid bet. And I know “muted yellow pants” might sound off, but this pair of 5-pocket cords by GANT Rugger is a prime example of how it can work. Just drop the saturation until you get to a pale, washed-out take on the color, and suddenly something that sounds like it should be confined to a some mid-90’s rave becomes a pretty damn versatile part of your wardrobe. It’s way too hot in New York to think about actually pulling on a pair of corduroys right now, but come fall, these could be a great swap for a pair of khaki chinos to punch things up a little without getting loud. Just don’t wear ‘em with a yellow slicker. Unless you’re a fan of ill-conceived banana jokes, that is. In which case, go for it.

GANT by Michael Bastian & GANT Rugger, on sale today at noon ET on Gilt MAN.
