Sound Check: The Field "Then It's White"

Getting you through your day with a kick in your step.

It’s a sodden day outside the MANual offices, so along with drinking the house coffee and tearing into some comfort-Thai, we’re putting The Field’s “Then It’s White” (from the upcoming Looping State of Mind) on repeat. Swedish minimal techno producer, Axel Willner, crafts almost eight minutes of dreamy, lightly percussive mood lighting populated by a simple piano bar, faded vocal snippets, and a gauzy horn. At some points it reminds us of Boards of Canada, other times a more chilled out version of Burial’s signature lonely cities vibe. Either way, it’s helping us face the undeniable onset of fall the way we prefer to: by slowly easing in.
