Sound Check: Cloud Nothings "No Future/No Past"

Getting you through your day with a kick in your step.

Cleveland’s Cloud Nothings (20-year-old Dylan Baldi’s musical project) made the right move tapping Steve Albini to produce their upcoming album, Attack on Memory. Punk’s equivalent of Dr. Dre behind the boards, Albini has worked with the likes of Nirvana and the Pixies, and is known stylistically for preferring a sound that is both loud and aggressive. Which is exactly what you get with Attack on Memory‘s opener: “No Future/No Past” takes a little while to get going, but once it does, Baldi growls over a rager whose refrain makes you want to pounce on someone’s back for a little finger-pointing singalong. Or maybe that’s just me.
