Keep it in the (Color) Family

Go tonal with khaki and cocoa for an understated counterpoint to all those summer brights.

Color may be king this season, but neutral hues can make just as much of an impact—you just have to put them together the right way. Instead of reaching for a range of shades, keep it to one small section of the color wheel to create an outfit that’s understated, but speaks volumes.

Here, in the first of a new weekly series, our crack styling team shows us how to do it right, pairing a cocoa-brown cardigan and dark-khaki cargos from Simon Spurr’s SPURR collection with chocolate suede loafers. Finished off with a white tee for a necessary pop of contrast, it’s a rich, subtle look that’s just as stylish as any of the bolder options you’ll encounter, but without the high wattage.
