The wearing un-sweatpants thing is not exactly new. Guys have been experimenting with loungewear and activewear on the casual side for a while now. Of course, every experiment is doomed to have its failures. Schlubs in baggy sweats won’t make it out of the lab and appear, in the words of my grandfather, “sub-human”. Yesterday, at Ian Velardi’s presentation we were given a fine example of dressing up the down. A finely tailored pair of paneled sweats paired easily with a button-up, cardigan and navy blazer. The next time you reach for those old grey sweats ask yourself, “What would Velardi do?” and you’ll be set. Also, when they’re out, buy the navy and grey ones above. Boss.
