For fall 2013, Creative Director Bernardo Rojo takes us on a journey through the great American ingenuity of the 60s, an era that witnessed man reaching the moon for the first time. Inspired by the “metallic spacesuits of the Apollo missions amidst a rich night sky,” Rojo’s color palette was fairly dark across the board (midnight navy, black, hunter green, maroon) with hints of beige and metallic accents. While the collection still featured traditional menswear pieces (double-breasted jackets and suits, overcoats, tailored trousers), it’s the nod to technology that intrigued us. Textured layering was in full effect — the combination of technical fabrics and traditional textiles gave a much-needed breath of fresh air to the classic tailored wear. Even so, our favorite piece might be the pair of ribbed leather boots. While the rest of the collection may push the envelope just slightly, the boots were certainly a larger departure from what we’d expect in a tailored label. We’re certainly not mad it.
