From software engineers to stylists, virtually everyone here isn’t just great at what they do, they’re also incredibly plugged in to what’s going on outside the office. In our ongoing series designed to tap into that knowledge base, here’s what’s on the weekend docket of Senior Curator – Gilt City, Lauren Perry.
The Soho House – Selah Sue
My weekend starts Thursday night with an acoustic performance by Selah Sue; an emerging Belgian musician/songwriter. I’ve been introduced to quite a few of my now favorite artists thanks to the House Session series! Afterwards, I’ll head to La Bottega for a late dinner with friends visiting from London; we tend to hit all of our old school haunts that we used to frequent when they lived here.
Rooftop Pools and The Standard Grill
I took a personal day so it’s back to The Soho House for a full day of lounging poolside. Afterwards, we’ll head to The Standard Grill for the cheese board and a bottle of Andres Balazs Reserve Rosé (hopefully we’ll snag a table in the sidewalk café for people watching). Once we’ve had enough entertainment, we’ll go upstairs to Le Bain to take in the sunset — nothing makes me fall in love with NYC more!
A morning of relaxation, an afternoon Beer-B-Q
I’ve already committed myself to start the day at Nalini Method with Rupa Mehta, a friend and founder, who will have me shaking in no time! Her kick a** class will make me feel much better about all of the amazing food and beer I’ll be enjoying at Hudson Hotel’s Beer-B-Q Fest with Josh Ozersky (he founded grubstreet.com, which is a go-to blog of mine so I’m really excited to meet him). By the way: tix are still available on Giltcity.com. I never miss the opportunity for a shameless plug!
Since there won’t be much room for a formal dinner on either Friday or Saturday (read: liquid dinner), we are going to Gilligan’s, the new pop up eatery in the Soho Grand’s outdoor space, to fill up on carbs. I love everything avocado so I’ll definitely be ordering the Avocado Flatbread (I hear the frozen watermelon margarita is the best way to wash it all down). Apparently a sunset sail on the Hudson has been arranged, so here’s hoping I make it!
