Minnesota represent!

If we’ve said it once, we’ve said it a thousand times: Gilt MAN would not be possible without the tireless work of our intrepid buying team. For the latest in our series highlighting the crew behind the scenes, we tapped Minnesota native Alex Steege, from the footwear, accessories, and lifestyle department, to show us exactly what she thinks guys should be wearing this summer. But before you shop the picks in her sale, read below to find out the one thing a guy needs to get right in his wardrobe, her ultimate desert island record, and the only way to prepare your barbecue chicken.

Hometown: Apple Valley, Minnesota
Desert island record: Anything by Raffi, as long as it’s got “Joshua Giraffe” on it.
Currently reading: I’m re-reading Replay by Ken Grimwood.
All-time favorite movie: Now and Then
Last concert I saw: Ben Howard and Michael Kiwanuka in Central Park.
Best meal I ever ate: Any dinner at my lake house in Wisconsin with my family and friends. Beer-can chicken, steak, corn on the cob and cheesy potatoes. NOM!
How a guy should dress: Confidently casual.
Go-to drink: Any spicy tequila drink.
Style icon: Toss up between Hillary Clinton or Amanda Bynes.
Biggest men’s style pet peeve: Baggy pants, they’re not flattering.
Every guy should own: Good looking shoes for all occasions. It’s the first thing I look at on a guy.
Favorite piece in my sale: The double-monks.
Summer or winter? Summer for the beach and winter for the mountains.
Travel essential: A month off and an amazing destination.
The theme of my sale is: What I think babes should wear, obviously.
To me, great style is: Being confident in whatever you’re wearing.
