Father's Day 2014

Mad Props

The story behind the vintage Ford Broncos featured in our Father's Day shoot — including how to make one (or both!) your very own.

Photos: Andy RyanAs our VP and head buyer Andrew Powell aptly points out, Father’s Day isn’t typically the coolest of holidays (well, unless you think stuff like novelty grill sets and dubious power tools are cool). But this year, we’re doing our best to buck the trend, offering a slew of amazing brands and vintage finds, all presented in a way that’s aimed at the new generation of style-conscious dads in the 30s and 40s — men who realize that fatherhood and fashion need not be mutually exclusive.

Following a brilliant sale last December, we’re thrilled to be teaming up again with Alan Maleh and his team at Man of the World magazine on an amazing assortment of vintage finds, and equally thrilled that they let us use a couple of their vintage Ford Broncos as props for our photo shoot. The gold one, a 1975 model, features a 302 V-8, three-on-the-tree transmission, and a removable top. The blue model, from 1976, also boasts a 302, plus an automatic transmission, A/C, and underwent a frame-off restoration in 2010. Both are in incredible shape, and both are available to purchase from the Man of the World site. Find out more about the ’75 here, and the ’76 here.
