Joe Cariati’s feather-light, translucent glass vases, lamps and decanters are triumphs of the master glassblower’s art. The Los Angeles-based craftsman is an expert in the Venetian off-hand method of glass blowing, which creates elegant, one-of-a-kind forms in subtle colors. Cariati puts his 20 years of glass-related skill to good use, never employing molds or other shortcuts and spending each day in front of a glassblowing furnace that maintains a steady (and staggering!) 2,100 degrees Fahrenheit – all to ensure the perfection of his glass pieces.
