Bashian Rugs

George Bashian founded Bashian Rugs in 1931, at the height of the Great Depression. Many Americans couldn’t even afford food and clothing, let alone luxurious, imported floor coverings. Despite the harsh economic climate, Bashian Rugs prospered — thanks in large part to Bashian’s remarkable ability to spot designs that deeply resonated with the public. Today George Bashian Jr. runs the family business, which offers wool and silk floor coverings imported from China, Nepal, India, Iran, and Pakistan. Chinese decorative painting, geometric shapes, European textiles, and architecture are among the many sources of inspiration for Bashian's hand-knotted, hand-tufted, hand-loomed creations. Popular series include the Chelsea — bright-colored rugs featuring contemporary designs and a subtle abrash — and the Wilshire's tufted styles made from New Zealand blended wool. Bashian’s one-of-a-kind rugs will bring opulence to any room and stand the test of time.
