Pastranomy owner Dennis Berkowitz jokes that sending samples of rugelach to our New York staff was “like sending a sandwich to a picnic.” Still, the classic New York treat charmed our buyers: For the super-sweet tooths, there’s chocolate rugelach made with cocoa powder, chocolate, and chocolate cake crumbs. For those who like fruity desserts, there’s apricot-raisin-walnut. Both are super-moist thanks to a handmade dough made with sour cream, based on Dennis’s wife Janice’s decades-old recipe.
