Modern-yet-timeless lines, with practicality seamlessly built in: That’s how Michelle Peluso likes her design. The CEO of Gilt, who dubs her preferred aesthetic “comfortable-modern,” chose her favorite decor pieces (including some for the kids) that exemplify that look. We’re selling them here, in the kickoff to our Gilt Influencer Picks series. You'll find everything from statement furniture to vibrant accents that'll make your space subtly sophisticated and extremely livable.

Surya’s rugs are horizontal works of art. The 30-year-old company, founded in India, spins out a vast variety of high-quality, hand-knotted wool carpets, including elaborate Oriental patterns, romantic damask prints, and graphic contemporary designs — and has partnered with everyone from fashion designer Bob Mackie to the Smithsonian to create special collections. Recently Surya has partnered with HGTV's Angelo Surmelis, host of uber-popular show 'Rate My Space', to create the Angelo:Home line of rugs. With a motto that claims “360 degrees of style,” Surya also designs throws, pillows, and even wall art inspired by — and meant to coordinate with — its rugs.
