Hikaru Noguchi
Inspired by sources ranging from Scottish plaids to paintings by surrealist artist Giorgio De Chirico, Hikaru Noguchi crafts accessories that blend old-school patterns and techniques with an artistic, quirky aesthetic. Originally a graphic designer, Noguchi moved from her native Tokyo to England in 1989 to study textile design. Fond of the artistic freedom she found in the UK, she set up shop and began created knitted fabrics for scarves, bags, furnishings, and clothing. Noguchi’s sumptuous knit work ranges from printed scarves and gloves made from pure lambswool to soft speckled tweed hats, textured knit ties, and snoods and shawls in subtle hues. In addition to designing her own line of accessories, Noguchi has made fine knitwear for the likes of Barneys, Topshop, and Paul Smith.
