At a Glance

Is there anything under the sun more ladylike than lace? As Miuccia Prada once said, it's the most important fabric in a woman's life, with her at birth, marriage, and everywhere in between. There's no milestone required to wear it this season—a backyard barbecue or a weekend by the sea will do just fine. And don't underestimate how versatile a lace dress can be, transforming from coquette to vixen with a quick flip of the accessories. Get inspired by the many ways to wear this favorite summer number, then snag a lace dress of your own in the sale below.

3.1 Phillip Lim

Phillip Lim debuted his women's line, 3.1 Phillip Lim, in 2004, and was an overnight sensation with both It girls and the fashion press. His refined yet laid-back designs (think sequined shift dresses, chiffon trench coats and suede cardigans) won him acclaim from the CFDA, which honored him with an award in 2007. Today, Lim's cool, contemporary (and often quirky) pieces, featuring innovative fabrics, unique patterns and crisp tailoring, are fundamentals in the wardrobes of women who like to surprise and stand out.
