David Aubrey founder Jennifer Arago launched her jewelry collection in the mid-1990s, when she was still enrolled in nursing school. After generating several millions of dollars in sales in just a few years, Arago left behind the world of neck braces and ear aches to fully dedicate herself to designing necklaces and earrings. Now based in Jersey City, N.J., Arago designs bold bib necklaces from faceted resin beads, agate, and painted wood; demure, gold-plated initial necklaces accented with beaded clusters; and chandelier earrings crafted from turquoise and carved bone. Pendants and brooches modeled after classic paintings and medieval manuscripts reiterate David Aubrey’s unique aesthetic.

There’s no question Rivka Friedman’s elegant designs have a signature feel, from the handcrafted finishes to the kaleidoscope of faceted gemstones. The artisan-inspired gold here — wrought into cocktail rings, delicate pebble drops, station necklaces, and triple chain bracelets — travels beyond basic territory thanks to vibrant embellishments like mint chalcedony, blue crystal, red jasper, and purple cat’s eye.
