About iittala

Working with a roster of prominent industrial designers and architects such as Alvar Aalto, Renzo Piano, and Tapio Wirkkala, iittala produces glassware and tabletop pieces that are functional works of art. What began in 1881 as a glass factory in the small Finnish village of iittala is today a leading homeware design company. The brand is known for its iconic contemporary designs, including the world-renowned Aalto vase, Marimekko's Kivi votives, and Oiva Toikka's glass birds.

Curated by Design: John Robshaw

A painter turned textile artist, John Robshaw has an eye for color and an appreciation for history, having studied traditional fabric-making techniques in Thailand, India, China, and Indonesia. Using travel as inspiration, he has picked a swath of sophisticated items from around the globe. Among the many finds: exotically scented candles from Sundari and D.L. & Co., Alvar Aalto's two-toned vases from iittala, and pillows and sheets designed by Robshaw himself.
