About Josie Natori

Natori, the Japanese word for “the highest form of art," perfectly describes the luxurious underthings and sleepwear created by Josie Cruz Natori and her eponymous lingerie label. Based in New York City, Natori started her company shortly after an old friend sent her some hand-embroidered blouses from her native Philippines. Natori showed the shirts to a buyer at Bloomingdale’s, who liked the way they echoed the look of Yves St. Laurent’s then-popular peasant blouses. At the buyer’s suggestion, Natori lengthened them and turned them into nightshirts. Within weeks, she set up shop in her living room; a few years later, she left her job as an investment banker and began working out of an 11,000-square-foot loft in midtown Manhattan. Natori has infused the elegant look of her first creations into gorgeous lingerie that you'll want to wear all day long. Rich fabrics and intelligent design define the label’s collection of bras, robes, pajamas, and other confections, enhanced by Natori’s signature detailing, embroidery, and appliqué. Over time Natori has expanded her label to include sumptuous bedding and towels, sexy swimwear, jewelry and accessories, even glasses and sunglasses — all designed to help you reach natori in planning your wardrobe and home.
