Founded in Paris in 2002, cult label Kitsune Maison is the brainchild of genius French-Japanese design duo Gildas Loaëc and Masaya Kuroki, who combined their twin passions for fashion and music to create a multi-platform brand. Kitsune means “fox” in Japanese (hence the adorable logo), and refers specifically to a mythical creature that can change its appearance from fox to human at will – much like the brand, which is responsible for bringing underground bands like Hot Chip and Citizens! to the savvy listeners who snap up a Maison Kitsune compilation every time it appears online or on sale on store shelves. Kitsune’s men’s and women’s clothing is no less remarkable – the perfect blend of killer graphics, perfectly-cut oxford shirts, ladies’ separates and cardigans. Kitsune Tee is the urban offshoot of the brand, with a line of tongue-in-cheek statement tshirts that are the products of collaborations with influential artists and musicians. As always, they’re made with an eye for detail – some of the shirts even have labels printed with hidden codes that let you download one of Kitsune’s très cool music compilations.
